Outside our windows

We have seen a couple of interesting things outside our windows the past few days. We have been enjoying the migrating Canada Geese. They are very pretty flying in their V formations and squawking up a storm as they fly overhead. Well, I guess a couple of them got lost from their flock and decided our front yard was home for now. They've been there the past 2-3 days. Dallas thinks a pellet gun would work on them. He calls them rats with wings.

Then THIS is what I am seeing outside my window as I type! Good golly. Is it ever going to end??

Do I dare say the "S" word??

SPRING! I think it's coming! Today was in the high 50's! Griffin and I spent 1.5 hours outside in the yard. It was our first time out there in months, besides shoveling snow and sledding. We did lots of yard work, swept out the garage and played a mean game of soccer. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping. I think SPRING is on its way.

I could not be happier!

A Sandwich

Griffin made a major breakthrough yesterday. He had a little friend over and I asked them what they wanted for lunch. Griffin wanted macaroni and cheese and Troy wanted a turkey sandwich and chips. Easy enough. They both ate a great lunch.

I went out for dinner with my friend Amy G., so Dallas and Griffin were on their own for dinner. When I got home Dallas said Griffin ate a whole turkey sandwich, crust and all. (Why someone would want to eat the crust is beyond me!) This would be the FIRST time in his life that he has eaten any sandwich other than a grilled cheese. I am so excited. So today for lunch he had a turkey sandwich but decided he likes the open-faced version best. FINE with me. I have also found a brand of sliced turkey meat that he loves and it's all he can talk about. "Is it my Healthy Ones turkey from Meijers?" I went the other day to pick some up and they were out! I tried to fake it with another brand - NO such luck.

Now to get the kid to eat a veggie.

5 year stats

Griffin had a visit to the pediatrician this week for his 5 year check up. I'm happy to report he checks out just fine. He had two shots and did not even flinch or make a peep. He is now done with shots until he is 11 years old. Well, I guess he'll still get a shot each fall since I'm a firm believer in the flu shot. It's hard to believe but the last time he was at the peds office was for his 4 year check up. Our entire family escaped illess this winter. What a blessing!

Griffin was 45 inches tall and 47 pounds. This puts him in the 90th percentile for height and the 85th percentile for weight. He was in the same ranges last year so he's growing just like he should be. The doctor encouraged Griffin to brush his teeth 2 to 3 times a day and to try to eat more veggies (shouldn't we all.)
And you might wonder exactly what Griffin is doing in this picture. His Aunt Barbara sent him some Floam for his birthday. He was making "grapes" with it.

Lordy, lordy, looks who's . . . . .

39. I know, I know, it's suppose to be 40 but I'm not there yet. But I'm very close. Griffin and I enjoy having our birthdays only a day apart. He was the best present I could have ever received.

Griffin's birthday party

We had Griffin's party at BounceTown. It's one of those indoor bounce house places in a large warehouse. The kids had a blast. It was such an easy place to do a party. They took care of all the details for us. Griffin was excited to celebrate with all his friends from Little Shepard Preschool as well as some friends from our church.

His favorite presents were his Webkinz. He loves going on the computer and taking care of them each day. He added a Lion (courtesy of BG and Grampie), a Leopard (courtesy of Jonas) and a Gorilla (courtesy of Emily). This brings our collection to 5. They go along with Billy the brown bear and Elliott the Elephant. I should add that the lion is Lionel and the leopard is Lizzie. She is our first girl Webkinz. The gorilla is nameless as of yet.

We finished off the day with dinner at the restaurant of Griffin's choice - Chili's. He loves the chips and salsa there. Oh and the french fries. How nutritious!
