Helene and Dallas met us there. They drove up from Austin. We had a nice time together and enjoyed doing one of our favorite past times together - watching Aggie football. There was a Christmas craft show at our hotel that Helene and I made sure to attend before we went to the game. I was able to get a couple of presents and see some very nice things.
At exactly 3 minutes and 46 seconds into the game Griffin leaned over to me and said, "Mommy, I'm ready to go now!" I just had to crack up. Ummm, we drove nearly 7 hours to go to this game and we are NOT leaving now. He did great once he took a walk and had some food. He experienced "Dippin Dots" for the first time and loved them.
The weather was perfect. It had been so cold in Chicago the prior few days that I had packed hats, gloves, scarves and long-johns. We ended up with just long sleeves and an Aggie t-shirt with our fall coats. We even saw several students in shorts and t-shirts.
It was a 6.5 hour drive for us through the very FLAT Illinois. When we crossed over the Mississippi River into Missouri we got to enjoy the last of the fall colors and some rolling hills. We had a great family weekend.
